I am Keyvan Shovir, an interdisciplinary artist based in California. My journey, originating in the vibrant culture of Tehran in 1985, has been a rich tapestry of experiences that continue to shape my artistic expression.
Rooted in Iranian Culture and Art
Growing up in Iran, I was surrounded by the mesmerizing beauty of Islamic art, Iranian architecture, and the depth of Iranian Art History. My formal education in Fine Arts at Tabriz Islamic Azad University further deepened my appreciation and understanding of these art forms, ingraining in me a profound respect for the cultural heritage that they represent.
Embracing the Street Art Movement
One of the most captivating aspects of my early artistic exploration was the dynamic public and street art movement. The raw, unfiltered expression of artists using the city as their canvas deeply influenced my approach to art. This form of art transcends traditional boundaries, making a direct connection with the audience in the most public of spaces.

Stencil Art: A Medium of Choice
My exploration in printmaking and painting eventually led me to discover a strong affinity for stencil art. This medium became an essential part of my creative toolkit, allowing me to merge traditional motifs with contemporary themes. It’s a technique that aligns perfectly with my desire to communicate cultural narratives in a modern context.
